Chris Jones, Principal

Chris founded Christopher Jones Architects in 2017 as a place to do the work he loves in close partnership with great clients, creating spaces for people to live, work, and play.

Chris grew up in Little Rock and studied architecture at the University of Arkansas campuses in Fayetteville and Rome, before moving to Seattle in 2000. His work as a teen remodeling houses with his father, as well as summer construction jobs during college, gave him a greater understanding of real world light-frame construction (and blisters). This experience was invaluable to his early work focused on custom homes and remodels around Puget Sound, initially with a small local firm and then on his own for several years. Interested in exploring multifamily housing and projects at larger scales, Chris joined NK Architects as part of their townhouse & single-family studio, eventually becoming a principal and managing operations for the firm. He left to found CJA, and has enjoyed building a team of colleagues that share not only a passion for architecture and our clients, but the determination to create a supportive workplace for people to thrive.

Chris’ curiosity and wanderlust led to his family’s move to Spain in 2025, where he currently resides just outside Estepona with his husband Andrew and their daughter Keira. He works remotely each day, coordinating with project teams and meeting with clients, while still making regular trips to the US to work in the office and walk project sites. 

Chris previously served on the board for Seattle Pride and as a foster parent, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Master Builder’s Association, the Greater Seattle Business Association, and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
